AEROSPACELAB

 Activities and experience

Aerospacelab is a Belgium "new space" scale-up founded in 2018  by Benoît Deper. The company’s vision is to enhance efficiency across markets by making geospatial intelligence both actionable and affordable. With the objective of becoming the European leader in satellite-based intelligence, Aerospacelab follows a vertically integrated approach, developing expertise both in upstream and downstream markets.

SW_S@T

Research and developments proposed in this project « S@T » address important trends in the Aeronautic and Space sectors :

SW_S-POD

The objective of the project is to combine the competences of various Walloon partners to conduct research for the development of a Smart-Pod System : it refers to an embedded container for aircrafts, carrying a machine gun and 12.7mm guided rocket tubes .

This development will be done in parallel with the development of the viewfinder Hudi, launched by FN Herstal, and its functional connection.

Regarding Smart-Pod, the lines of research are:

SW_D-DAMS

An industrial consortium has been put in place in Wallonia in order to develop a new competence : develop smart electronic devices that can answer to the DO178 (software) and DO254 (hardware) norms.

Those norms give strong warranties on robustness and safety levels that are expected in Aeronautics. As a consequence, taking them into account from the development phase is a must when one wants to certify its products.

The competence of each partner will increase progressively, up to the full mastering of those norms.

SW_SOBINV2

Following various successful R&D projects performed over the last years, SOBELCOMP is facing a significant growth of the demand from its customers in Aeronautics, Defense and other industrial sectors.

This growth is also the result of another investment in a poly-articulated robot acquired in 2013.

As a consequence, SOBELCOMP must enlarge its production site in order to answer the demand of its customers, but also in order to avoid losing customers that are in a hurry. This should also allow the company to seduce or convince new customers.
