Benoit Vieille graduated as an Engineer with majors in Materials and Mechanics from the National Engineering School of Mechanics and Microtechnics in Besançon, France. In 2003, he defended a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Franche-Comté (France). His thesis focused on the “Elaboration of a numerical model to the prediction of the behavior of thin Shape Memory Alloys structures”. In 2005, he became Assistant Professor at the National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA) in Rouen, France. In 2014, he became Associate Professor by defending a habilitation to conduct researches untitled “Contributions to the mechanics of thermoplastic-based composites materials. High-temperature applications in aeronautics”. In 2019, he was promoted University Professor at the INSA Rouen. His research activities primarily focus on aerospace and mechanical engineering with an expertise in thermoplastic-based composite materials and fire behavior analysis.
